We're back!

Pictures: not so good (my eyes hurt, the sun's too bright, the sand is itchy, the wind is blowing my hair....)

Leaving grandparents: not so good

Traveling on a plane next to a lady who kept the window shade down the whole time: not so good (lady when it feels like the plane is dropping out of the sky or is on a roller coaster I want to see out the window to see if the ground is indeed rushing up at me!)

Leaving vacation and coming back to the real world including work: not so good (missing luggage, slack workers at the airport, hauling butt to get the dogs, hauling butt back home, hauling butt to work, working until 1:00am)

Being able to sleep in my own bed, with my dogs at the end of the bed, having Andy home for another day, being able to go down to the dock in the morning: soooo good!

Time to go home

We've had so much fun on our family beach trip! It hasn't been a long trip, just a long weekend really, but still fun.

We've visited with my grandparents, played on the beach, played in the ocean, played in the pool, shopped, ate out. The only thing we haven't done is taken the obligatory family beach pictures and those are scheduled for tomorrow morning.

Let's hope the weather is good and the girls are willing. Otherwise....oh well next time!

Yes, I say that but you all know that inside I'm saying "please, please, please turn out well". ;-)

To Sleep or Not to Sleep...

That is the question. So it's 3:30am now. We leave in 4 hours to head to the airport. Which means we need to be up by 6:45. So 3 hours...what's the point?

Will I be more sleepy if I try to sleep now?

Will I be better off staying awake and toughing it out until the plane ride?

It's only a 2 hour flight though. I have to finish packing. I guess I'll decide when I'm done doing that. Whether tis nobler to be tired tomorrow and a grouch or super giddy to start the trip....

Bet Shakespeare never considered this conundrum!!

I may have a problem

I've been working my To Do list today. It's a long list and every time I make a phone call or get one thing done that leads to a couple more things being added to the list. I was getting a little frustrated.
So I added a few things......

that I had already done....

and really weren't list worthy....

just so I could cross them off.....

Until we leave for Marco Island. Thank goodness! I am so ready for a break! Some relaxation and rest. Too bad I have so many things to do to get ready to go! My list is a mile long. It would probably help if I got off the computer and got started.....I wonder how FB is doing today!! ;-)

1 knee surgery....

I got up on water skis today!!!

Okay, so I'm in pain now but that is not the point. The point is I got up and that, my friends, is all that matters. Well, that and some Tylenol....and Motrin.

A little hospital humor for you

Remember when I told you that my Mozzie's doctor was named Dr. Horney? Well, I also told my friend Jamie, who I work with at Nurseline, and she decided that she would have to take it one step further. See there are 2 other docs that work at our hospital. One is Dr. Butts and one is Dr. Peters. Do you see where this is going? Alright, just in case you don't let me spell it out for you. We then decided it would be great if they were all in a group together. Then the receptionist answering the phone would have to go:

Horney, Butts and Peters can I help you?

Still makes me laugh; especially when my Mom will answer the phone with that. Yeah, we're sad....but oh so funny. Don't deny it, you know you giggled too!! ;-)

It's always nice

to find out your not as dispensable and insignificant as some situations make you think you are! I'm just saying.

HUGE Pet Peeve

Is it so hard for people to say thank you? I mean seriously. I'm not asking for a proclamation of gratitude that would be so large as to rival the full page ad Ben Afleck took out for J.Lo. No, no nothing like that. Just a simple 2 word sentence. Thank you. That's all. Just that. I'd even settle for "thanks". Just acknowledge people! That's all I'm saying. You do something nice for someone they should thank you. You go out of your way for someone and they should thank you. You let somebody out in traffic they should give the "thank you wave". We all know what I'm talking about. Heck I'm already teaching my kids to make sure they do it! People think we're crazy; they let us out in traffic and the whole car is waving at them. But by golly they know that their action was appreciated. It's a simple thing. We were all taught to do it; by family or teachers. It's not hard. It doesn't take any skin off your nose. It's a little thing but it means a lot! So with that being said; THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!!!!

I love...

being productive! Especially when it's early in the morning. I still have pictures to delete off the main computer, but I'm less than 2 years behind! Dogs at our house and the neighbors' house have been walked. I've been walked. All plants have been watered. Kids have been bathed and dropped at VBS. And there was no fighting this morning. All of this gives me hopes that it is going to be a wonderful day. Except for the working tonight part. Oh well, I got ATO'd last night so maybe tonight.....?

WE DID IT!!

I'm going to warn you: some of these pictures are not for the faint of heart! I am not looking the prettiest so it is a good thing that it was a 5K and not a beauty pageant!!

6:38: The alarm goes off. Not really sure why I set it for 6:38 but it sounded good at the time. Get dressed. Notice I did NOT say "take a shower". Just another warning folks!

7:10: Gotta wake the girls up. Easy to do when it is something they are excited about.

7:25: Leave the house to head to the Buford Run The Rails 5K Race, the girls' first 5K race.

7:35: Get registered and get our numbers. See a bunch of people we know. They didn't get the warning of how I looked so I kinda felt sorry for them. Stretch and get ready to run/walk. Or if you're my kids pose for some pics.

8:00: At the starting line. Go Team Wiggs!Start running/walking. Wind our way through downtown Buford. Together....for about 2 minutes and then Andy and Hayden took off. Which was fine. Belle and I did it together. Holding hands most of the time.

With her having a steady stream of chatter the entire time.

We had goals of "we're going to run to that next stop sign and then walk". We greeted every mile marker with a cheer and shock that we were doing so good with our time.

We waved at people we knew who were cheering from the sidewalk and at people we knew who were leading the pack.

Like *Frantastic* Bagley, a teacher at Belle's school who came in 3rd in her age group.

And Catherine Camp, Belle's Kindergarten teacher.

We hooted and hollered at Andy and Hayden when we saw them through the trees at the 2nd mile marker.

We discussed whether doing this made her a tomboy instead of a girlie girl. We also discussed being who you are and not letting others tell you how you should be. Who knew a 5K would have so many life lessons?! We talked about school, family, the best way to run downhill, people we knew and what we were going to do next week.

Then we got near the end. We set the goal "at that green flag on the light post we are going to jog it in the rest of the way". We got to the light post and kicked it up a notch. As we got to where we could see the finish line I pointed it out to her and told her to "GO FOR IT!"

She kicked it in and went sprinting over the finish line with her Daddy and sister cheering her on and getting high fives from volunteers.

WE DID IT!! GO TEAM WIGGS!!!!

We didn't win any door prizes.

BUT, HAYDEN CAME IN THIRD IN THE 10 AND UNDER AGE GROUP FOR GIRLS!!!

Can I get a *woot woot*?!? She even got a medal.

Not bad for her first race.

Belle came in 4th and didn't get a medal but she is determined to get one next time.

Yes, I said we're going to do it again and why not? I got to spend some really special quality time with my little girl who is on the brink of being a big girl.

And Andy got to spend special quality time with our big girl who is on the brink of getting to the point where we are more of a *necessity* than people to spend time with.

There is no better way to spend a Saturday morning than that!

Of course, we're only doing it again with the understanding that the "shirts have to be cute". Belle does have her girlie girl standards after all!!

Update

Mozzie had an ERCP this afternoon. That is where they take a tube and go down her throat to look at her gallbladder. They didn't see any stones in the bile duct but they weren't able to get into the gallbladder to see the stones in there. They are going to wait for her "angry" pancreas to settle down and then they will do gallbladder surgery. Not sure what her pancreas is angry about but I wish it would get over it!!! lol She will probably stay in the hospital over the weekend and have her surgery on Monday.

On a funnier note (cause I'm immature like this) her doctor's name is Dr. Horney. Yeah, I laughed for a long time about that one.

My girls told me "for someone that works in a hospital Mom you sure are silly."

Me: "Baby sometimes you gotta laugh and be silly or else you'll go crazy."

Blank stares in response. I'm okay with that. They don't need to know all the crap that I've seen in my job. That actually makes me happy because that means they don't know that I come in and hug them with tears in my eyes because I'm so happy I still have them when someone else has lost their child.

Crap, PMS is making my emotions veer wildly.

All Good Prayers Needed

My Mozzie (my grandmother) got put into the hospital last night with pancreatitis and gallstones. She will be undergoing a procedure this afternoon to remove the gallstones. The girls and I are headed over there now.

An Awesome 2 Days

Day 1: Hanging out at the lake all day with friends, having drinks, playing in the sun.

Day 2: Going to the zoo with the girls, Mom, Moz, Anne and Chris; seeing the Naked Mole Rats and every other animal under the sun; quick visit from a friend; an hour in the lake for the girls; dinner at Kayson's and a trip to Fresh Market.

Summer is going great so far!!
