I can talk again!

Its still a little hoarse sounding, but I think my voice is back!! WHOO HOO! Its very hard cheering, talking, working when you have a croaky voice. So a little about my weekend? It was a good one.

Saturday started off with the girls' game in Norcross. I hate playing there! The Norcross fans are not very nice, or at least the ones we ran into Saturday. For example there was a guy beating a drum and yelling, YELLING, at the Buford cheerleaders and the football players. You just want to ask him, "Does it make you feel good to scream and yell and taunt THIRD GRADERS?!?!?!" I mean seriously it was a little over the top. Then when I had to go up into the announcer's box to do the half time for the squad; I was heckled by a child, A CHILD, who decided to tell me that I couldn't cheer for Buford because this was Norcross territory!! I understand being for your team and I, as you know, are all for it, but lets all be mindful of others and show a little restraint! Anyway, the boys scored 2 TDs this game. It wasn't enough for a win but it was a great game and they played really well. Then Andy and I stressed (I mean cheered) watching the Auburn game. Do they have to make it so hard on the fans every game? Thank goodness for a win there.

Sunday Hayden went to a birthday party while Andy, Belle and I had lunch with Mom and Dad who are back from their awesome trip to Wales! We got to see all of their pics and they are gorgeous!! The countryside is just beautiful. I'll have to ask Dad if I can post a few here or maybe link to his photos. And then it was off to work! Well at least for me.

So now it is Buford Homecoming week. Lots of work to do and then I wonder: if there isn't gas are we going to be able to have a parade? And if not, then what? I guess we'll have to wait and see how it all plays out. Plus Hayden's squad has Cheer Off this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for them. They've been practicing super hard and look really good, so here's hoping they have a great experience. Of course I'll keep you updated, I just wanted you to know what's going on! Favorite Foto Friday

Yes, I know its spelled wrong but I love alliteration and it looks better with all F's. Anyway, my favorite photo (there, is that better?) that I'm going to share today is one I took of Belle the other day while practicing the lighting with my camera. She told me she would pose for me to help out. She has always been little Miss Diva, but when she came downstairs fully decked out in a pink dress and matching bow and struck a sassy pose I realized that this practice was going to be fun. Icky

I can't talk and I feel icky. Why is it when you have a lot to do, life conspires against you and causes you to get ill? I've decided that having laryngitis is the worst sickness for me because I LOVE to talk so much. And you can't holler upstairs to your kids that dinner is ready. Or talk on the phone. And we all know how much I love to talk on the phone. ;-) Oh well, I'm going to go find something that will make my throat feel better.

It's Going to Be a Good Day Today

I can feel it! You know how I know? My girls have been up for almost 30 minutes with NO fighting! Its wonderful! For two little girls who love each other as much as these two do, it is amazing to me how much they fight! Over everything, little stuff, big stuff, EVERYTHING!! But not this morning and that means we're going to have a great day. Well, I do still have the next 20 minutes before they exit the car and walk into their schools. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!

Oh Woe Is Me!!

Definitely not a winning weekend this weekend! Both Buford 3rd grade squads lost and Auburn lost in the last minute of the game. Oh woe is me!!! I figure that the AU offense will "click" at some point and it will be like an "AH HA" moment and goodness and light will continue from that point on. I just hope it happens before next weekend when we play Tennessee. Eeeek.

The good news is other than that it was a good weekend. Busy, but good. Now another week is starting and it should be a good one. Not as good as my parents who are, as we speak, horseback riding across Wales, but a good one none-the-less.

Oh yeah! Its Mouse Memory Monday!!! I almost forgot! I put the pic on for my Disney memory of the Day and will tell you the story behind that. Balloo is not really a well known character in our house seeing as how the Jungle Book is not really watched in our house. For some reason that year Belle decided that Balloo was her favorite nonprincess character. Everytime she would see him she would crawl up into his lap and just sit on him forever. I think she thought "Hmmm bear skin rug.....so tired". When the shot to the side was taken King Louie kept trying to talk to her and all she wanted was to talk to Balloo and love on him. Almost made me feel bad for the person in the hot monkey costume! She finally did hug Louie, but it was a pity hug. We all knew it and I think Louie was probably crying on the inside!

WHOO HOO

The consignment sale is over!! Our PTO was trying to put on a dress code and spirit wear consignment sale. It didn't have a lot of participation and instead of going until 4, it ended at 1. Which means I get to have a bit of down time before we're off to our next adventure. YEAH ME!! What are the odds of the girls actually laying down too since they've been up since 6:30? Yeah, that's what I thought too: not gonna happen! Oh well. The girls are hanging tough. So far we've done a consignment sale and 2 football games. We'll have a few minutes and then its off to a bridal shower, shoot some pics of a friend's belly and then the Auburn game. I love lazy Saturdays!!! Andy is off playing golf and I think to myself: "Self, he is so glad he is not running around with us!!

Apple Fest

Why is it that when I go visit Belle in her class she wants to cry when its time for me to leave? Any other time she's not really too worried where I am. For example, the other day during cheer practice, Andy and I went to Costco. We told the girls that if we weren't back by the end of practice they would be going home with one of the other moms and we would get them from there. We made it back to get them before the end of practice and were greeted by Belle with "What are you doing here? Go away! I want to go home with Morgan! Please leave!" But when I go to her school its a whole nother story. There is whining: "Don't leave, don't help her, sit by me, stand by me, play with me, let me go with you, let me help you around the school....DON'T LEAVE!!! There is crying, pouting, pitifulness. All designed to make feel bad I know. I always tell her that if she does it, I won't be able to come visit anymore. Some day I might actually have to go through with that!

Anyway, I was up at the school today for Apple Fest and was treated to this lovely display of behavior. It was throughly enjoyable! Actually the Apple Fest itself was fun. They have been talking about apples in Belle's class so today they tried a bunch of different things with apples in them, ie: apple sauce, apple butter, apple jelly, you get the idea. The best part for me today was Belle trying Pomegranate Cider. It was supposed to be apple cider but I think whoever brought it got the wrong one. So I tried it and it was not so yummy. I went ahead and focused the camera on Belle's face knowing that she was about to try it. She did and here is how she felt about it:

Fall is in the air!!

I know its the middle of September and I know that technically Autumn starts on Monday, September 22 but I have to say today is the first day that it actually FEELS like fall. It is a gorgeous day, bright and sunny, but it is cool. We actually have our windows open and the house is comfortable with a cool breeze blowing through. Its nice after the stifling heat that is a Georgia summer. The air smells different too. Makes me think of Saturday football games at Auburn, tailgating, jackets in the evening, camping, campfires, giant piles of leaves to jump in and Halloween. Driving around Buford, I see lots of people already have their fall decorations out. I was resistant to that when the temps were still reaching the 90's, but now I think it may be time. My Cousin Brad

I just had to share this with y'all. My cousin Brad is the one I told you about who is going to be deployed to Iraq on October first. My Mom, Mozzie, Aunt Anne and I had lunch with him Tuesday since my Mom couldn't be at the family soiree on Saturday. Anyway, the food was yummy (good enough to roll around in!! lol) and the company was great. But, here is the real story: for the TMBITT I had called Mozzie to see if she would bring me some pics since I wasn't sure if I had any. She did. She also brought me one from that era of me and my cousin Brad. Of course we all got a giggle and then had to take a now shot attempting to recreate the shot. Of course, since he is now quite a bit taller than me, holding him for the pic was out of the question. Not too mention that we didn't have a bulldozer for him to gnaw on. So here we are.....

Take Me Back In Time Tuesday

My friend Shalina has started a thing called Take Me Back In Time Tuesday. You can see her blog at http://www.mylifebehindthelens.blogspot.com/. I know I'm cutting it short to get my TMBITT in by end of day Tuesday, but here goes. The theme today was senior year and 5 fun facts that people might not know about the person I was in high school. I graduated in May 1988 from Rabun Gap Nacoochee School. Here is the rest of the story:

1: I played soccer on the boy's team at Rabun Gap Nacoochee. Which leads us to another fun fact: yes, I went to boarding school.

2: I was in and WON my high school beauty/talent pagent. And for those that are about to ask "What was your talent?" the answer is "I sang" (thank you very much!!). My Dad did my music and I sang a song. I even have it on tape (somewhere) and NO there will not be a viewing of it at ANY time!

3: I was on the school volleyball team. Now that may not sound like a fun fact, but it is considering Andy has known me how long and last month during the Olympics when I mentioned being on the team he a) laughed, b) told me I was lying, c) laughed some more, d)cracked a lot of jokes and then e) laughed some more. So see? Very fun.

4: I only applied to one college: Auburn. I knew that was where I wanted to go and applied for early admissions. I got a letter back saying sign here if you still want to come here, welcome to Auburn and War Eagle. I hope it's as easy for my kids!!!

5: I worked in the school dining hall cooking breakfast for the entire school (cause I'm such and AWESOME cook! lol) before school and in the counselor's office after school when there was no sport practice.

Me and my friend Kim (I wonder what she is doing now?) at Bible Night. This was the night before graduation when RGNS presented all the graduating seniors with a bible with their name embossed on the cover. It was also the night that most of the graduating seniors then went out and misbehaved. If I remember correctly my parents ran into the valedictorian of the class (no it wasn't me) coming out of the liquor store. Hmmmm......

I guess you could call it "Mouse Memory Monday" but there it is our picture of the day with us having breakfast with Mickey at Ohana which just happens to be one of our favorite breakfast places in Disney. I don't think the kids like it so much for the food, more for the maraca shaking, booty shaking parade they get to be in every 20 minutes or so. Definitely one of our favorite Disney memories. Of course going back through pics makes me want to go back again!

Another Disney memory from just the other day? I got a call from a telemarketer that called to tell me I had "won" two free tickets to Disney if only I would come listen to their vacation spiel and also if I would put down a "deposit" on my "free" tickets! Are you kidding me?!?!
1) How did you get my number? And no, I DID NOT register online.
2) How are you going to offer "free" tickets with a $200 deposit? Once again, no thank you!
3) I would still have to listen to your vacation spiel even after I've paid you for my "free" tickets? Once again, no thank you and have a nice day. Click. I hate telemarketers!

A Winning Weekend

Buford High School 41-0 over Lovett.
Auburn 3-2 over Miss State. Yes, that is in football not baseball. But hey, a win is a win no matter how small!!
Buford 3rd grade Wolves: well they didn't win, it was 12-7. However, it was our first score of the year!!! So that counts as a win, right? A moral win or something like that!! Anyway, with a TD in our pocket now there is no stopping us! Can a win be far behind? Let's hope not.

In between all the football we had a family gathering this weekend. It was great to see all the family and to catch up. The reason for this gathering? My cousin, Brad is going to be going to Iraq on October 1st. I'm so proud of him for choosing to represent his country in this way and for being a platoon leader. I was hoping he'd have an assignment that kept him on the base and far away from any possible harm, but it seems his platoon is going to be security for convoys. Needless to say he is going to be having a lot of Wiggs' prayers with him every day for the year he is gone. I appreciate everything the men and women of the armed forces do for our country, but never more so then when a member of the family is involved. Just as much, I appreciate the families of these men and women that loan their family member to the armed forces. Let's hope their job there is done and they all come home soon.

It's Buford Game Day!!!

What better thing to do on a rainy day but to play with my new blog? I could (read that as should) be cleaning my house or any other of all my various errands, yet here I sit! It's Buford Game Day today and hopefully it will stop spitting rain so that we're not sitting out in it later tonight. Something you all know about me is that I'm a HUGE Auburn fan. I mean HUGE! And I never thought any other football would mean as much to me. I've now learned that all that changes when you have kids and they go to a school system, and cheer for a school, that is SERIOUS about its high school football.

Let's just say my closet is now a mix of orange and blue and green, gold and white. Where it used to be just Saturday game days, its now Friday game days as well. Not too mention that Buford game days involve Saturday mornings as well since the girls are cheering. I always loved going to my own high school football games...when I was in high school. But here they aren't just football games. They're where most everybody goes on Friday nights, where you see all your friends, and your kids see all their friends, where you know the kids playing and their families; its a social event. And me and my family LOVE IT!!! So if you try to call on Friday night and we don't answer you know where we are. And of course once the green and gold night is over, an orange and blue (and pink if you're Belle) Saturday always dawns! Go Wolves and War Eagle!!

I'm Blogging!

I wasn't planning on doing a blog like this. I figured I'd stay with my little Shutterfly blog and post all my pics there. Now Shalina has talked me into being a blogger and not just a picture poster. We'll see how it goes. I mean, does anybody really want to hear the ramblings of someone who has only gotten 18 hours of sleep in the last 4 days? Of course I made up for that today with tons of sleep, but I digress. Anyway, let's see if I keep up with this one better than I keep up with the Shutterfly one. Not that I'm going to stop posting there too. Gotta have a place for all the photos I take!
